Fas work placement payments - confused

    Hi Guys,

I was wondering if I could use your help.

I've just accepted a nine month internship with Fas and I am currently receiving 88 euro per week in JB - the little yellow slips you just fill in. I live at home and was assessed based on my stamps only. What will I receive with Fas? Is it the full 188 euro as stated on their website or is it just the 50 euro additional payment on top of my 88 euro.

Thanks for any help you can offer. :)

Can't really help you but can say for sure that by doing a FAS course you get topped up to the full €188 per week. I started a course last week and this is what I will be getting. Found lots of conflicting info out there so it is very confusing. Even got a few different answers from Fas staff...

Maybe someone else will come on here that knows someone doing an internship

Will you be doing a WPP? Or one of the new Job Bridge Internships?

Thanks for your replies. It's a WPP. When I saw the vacancy, it didn't mention Jobbridge so I took it as your basic WPP.

I wish there was a simple manual for these things. Fas and Social Welfare are soo confusing.

On a WPP, your weekly payment remains the same:

    Cee Jay,

I noticed that but, this is where it gets confusing.

Under the allowances section on Fas it says this: "If a persons Social Welfare allowance is lower than the standard allowance, FÁS will pay the standard allowance for the full duration of the course."

The standard allowance is 188 so they must bring me up, right?

    Emg,

Were you getting lower than 188 per week before your WPP? I hope you don't mind me asking. Because, if you did, and you are now receiving the full allowance of 188 then that answers my question. :)

Yep, I was on JSA and was getting just under €70pw.

It is so hard to get a definitive answer - I was totally confused before I started the course.

Will be getting first payment from FAS this Thursday so will be able to give you a definite answer then. There is a training allowance + travel allowance + meal allowance

What age are you? Because that would have an effect on payments. The allowances on the fas website are in relation to fas courses not work placements.
