    Studying for an exam..would really appreciate some help

    For part of the question I have to simplify this:

    P=10-{(10-c)/2 }

    Sorry if that's not entirely clear, its just simply "P equals 10 MINUS 10-c over 2

    How does that work? Common Denominator? If someone could explain how you simplify it it would be amazing.

    I know it's quite basic but I'm just not sure.. keep doubting myself..The rest of the question is all wrong if I don't have this one right!

    What you have is
    [latex]P=\displaystyle{10-(\frac{10-c}{2})}[/latex]
    To simplify, you want to express as one fraction. The least common denominator in this case is 2, so the above can be rewritten as.
    [latex]P=\displaystyle\frac{20-10+c}{2}[/latex] (note it's +c, as two minuses multiply to give a +)
    which is just:
    [latex]P=\displaystyle\frac{10+c}{2}[/latex]
