    Hi,

I finally got all my forms and details sorted for my rent allowance application. I will be posting it tomorrow. My rent is payed until end of sep.

Can anyone tell me how long it takes for application to be approved??

    Thanks,

    FrAg

My CWO told me that the new centralised system is quite slow and I could be waiting up to 7 weeks for it.

    Really??

Well I am payed up until end of Sep and hope to be back working by then but will be screwed if I dont get it sorted by then.

Are their any alternatives available to cover rent while waiting on application to go through? Would SW help and then be reimbursed once rent allowance is processed??

I asked my CWO is there any sort of Supplementary payment while waiting and he said no. And he's one of the nice ones!

I've seen others post saying that SVP might be able to help you with other expenses like food in order to help free up your actual money for rent.

i was in this situation last year,
it took about 5 to 6 weeks to come through but when it did it was all backdated, if you explain the situation to your landlord and see what they say?
it will take a while and someone has to come and inspect your house first,
do you know if you are definatly intitled? im not trying to scare you but they are gone awful strict, you have to be on the council housing list now, if you are it makes it a whole lot easier.
