You are in college for 3 days each week - Tues, Wed and Thur - and the hours are pretty much 9-5, with odd hours free here and there. You are expected to spend one full day, (8 hours) in either a hospital or community pharmacy every week during term-time for first year. You don't need to have your work placement sorted before you start but it makes life a lot easier if you do.:)

ah brill thanks for that just bit worried about finding work exp now did a ring around carlow town today and no one even interested all have students still there from last yr and not in a position to take anyone on. Have you completed this course any suggestions or heads up on where to look for work experience.:)

You are better to look for a placement outside of Carlow, unless you are from here and have a regular pharmacy you attend. The majority of pharmacists in the town have been taking students since the course started and the places get snapped up very quickly. It is really just a question of pounding the pavements and calling into every pharmacy you can think of, until someone says yes. Don't forget to try the hospitals as well, and if you are from Wexford the pharmacy in Taghmon has a placement.
(I should declare that I'm teaching on the course, so I'll see you next week no doubt!)
