    Hi,
I'm in Monivea, Athenry, Co. Galway
Do not require a land line and i'm getting 1mb Broadband with unlimited usage from Airwire at the moment costing €30 a month and it's driving me nut's because it's just so slow.

I am thinking of getting the Digiweb Tooway Satellite Broadband 6mb service at €39.95 a month, it's the €250 installation cost thats putting me off though and is the 4gb monthly data allowance enough?
just wondered if any one out there have the service and can tell me if it's worth it.

The other option is Eircom next generation broadband BASIC, package at €46.79 with basic off peak call that i wouldn't use but has a 10gb usage allowance.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated .
Thanks in advance for your comments.
    Andy

If you are disappointed at wireless broadband wait until you try satellite midband you be extremely disappointed. Satellite is not broadband at all.
    Ping times are enormous...

Isn't there any other BB providers in your area that you can try before going to Satellite? Satellite will work, but is currently too restrictive and may well be restrictive for some time to come; however, if there's nothing else suitable available then go for it, but be prepared for some problems. For a start the download allowance of 4 gig a month you mentioned will be used up in about a week if you do a bit of youtubing, for example. 4 gig a month is grand if all you want to do is do a little web surfing, send a few emails, etc, but will be gobbled up in no time if you download movies or music.

So do you think the Eircom deal would be better for me then, and we do a good bit of downloading, youtube etc.

Yes, if they are able to provide a service you're happy with then they should be approached before considering Satellite.

Get them to check the line and see what download speeds you can expect. Remember too that if your area hasn't been upgraded for NGB (Next generation Broadband) you will have unlimited downloads despite what's said on the package. Essentially Eircom is not monitoring usage on non NGB lines. However, I suggest you don't bring this to their attention:)
