Passport for infant

    Hi I'm going to uk in 3 weeks a last minute trip. Do I need a passport for my 7 month old?? Or will his birth very be ok?

    How are you travelling?

    Irish citizens don't *need* a passport to travel to the UK but Ryanair, for instance, insist on one. Aer Lingus require no ID at all for under-16 accompanied kids.

    Boat travel rarely if ever has ID checks, I've had mine checked once in possibly 40 return crossings; and as that was the Guards not the ferry company I suspect they'd not have a problem once you had a passport of even proof of residence here for yourself.
