650 euro gaming build

Hey guys, I'm thinking of ordering my first gaming pc soon but I'm clueless about buying one. I would be using it for mainly gaming and a bit of internet.
I have a monitor, speakers and keyboard but I need win7. Would like not to upgrade for a while, but 650 euro probably won't get me too far.
Any ideas?

at min your looking at a grand for a gaming rig
if you use old pc components dvd drive harddrive all sata, fans etc. you might save some money

you need the following brand new
mobo
cpu
gpu
ram
powersupply would have to match aswell so buy that new

best advice is to buy everything new for around or over a grand

€650 will get you pretty far if you build it yourself. Here's a suggestion for parts below. Case is in stock in a week, so choose another if you order before then. Building yourself is easy if you can follow guides. Alternatively, you may be able to find a volunteer in your area to help you (there's a thread of this) or you can pay HWV €20 to build it for you (efficient but not as much fun). Note that hardwareversand only take bank transfer as is standard in Germany (or paypal for +3%).

That will keep you going for 3-5 years no problem.

One small thing is that the version of windows is in German, so you'll need to download the english one from here and burn it to a DVD. The you just use the license from the German one.

reason i said about a grand was for a better grafix card and power supply to match 700w. would you not need 2048 MB or 2 1024 MB for a decent rig to future proof it. and a quad core 3000+ mhz processer. also a ssd harddrive for the os

deconduo is that crossfire ready? Would I need to crossfire another 6870 in the future or is it not crossfire and get a better one?

There's enough GRAM on the 6870. A 2GB 6870 wouldn't be much better than a 1GB 6870. There are much more important factors than graphics RAM size and it really only comes into play when it is a very limited size or at high resolutions (e.g., multiple monitors).

The 2500K is a quad core 3.3GHz processor. It can be overclocked to above 4GHz. The frequency of processors shouldn't be the measure of their performance either. It's okay to measure within a generation, but a 2GHz dual core of this generation is better better than a 4GHz one from 2005.

The card is but not the motherboard. You'd need to get a motherboard which has an extra PCI-E slot and a more powerful Power Supply Unit. A 6870 will handle games at HD resolution (1920 x 1080) with the details turned to high in most of them. If you don't upgrade for a while, you could just buy another single card down the road. I think crossfire is really something that needs to be done about a year later. After that, a single card will nearly always be the better option. If you plan on maximising upgradiblity with an option of a monster card, you might need a stronger PSU but it's likely that the 450W PSU will accommodate most mid-highish cards.

for psu it really depends if you plan on adding more stuff in the future i would recommend the 650w for more grafix card but mostly more hard drives and stuff you might add also the cooling system for the case.

Yes. You could build on the €650 system. You could easily fit a monitor, mouse and keyboard into €200. Don't buy your keyboard at HWV (German layout).
With the spare money you could upgrade the graphics card. An extra €50 would buy you a 6950/560ti. The 6950s have suddenly gone up in price so it looks like the 560ti is better value now.

Yes, all games at HD resolutions, but not really much above that.

It's like lego. Take your time and read the steps. It shouldn't be a problem. You'd have it done inside a day at a slow pace.

Not really. You do get the odd deal where someone is selling off a system that's only a few months old but technology depreciates so fast that you might as well buy the latest for gaming.
