    Editorial Reviews
Welcome back for a wild new year at Greendale Community College, as the study group faces their toughest tests yet… Why would bachelor-for-life Jeff Winger (Joel McHale) pop the big question to Britta (Gillian Jacobs)? What incites innocent Annie (Alison Brie) to chloroform a janitor? Hey, Pierce (Chevy Chase)! Is your mom really still alive in a lava lamp? Will Abed (Danny Pudi) miss his Pulp Fiction birthday for a chance to give Jeff his own version of My Dinner With Andre? What makes Troy (Donald Glover) boldly go for LeVar Burton? Shirley (Yvette Nicole Brown) is expecting – but who’s the daddy? Is it her ex-hubby (guest star Malcolm-Jamal Warner)? Or ex-Spanish teacher, Senior Chang (Ken Jeong)? Finally, is that really Betty White rapping with Troy and Abed? All these answers (and much more) are found in the hilarious, guest star-filled sophomore season of the breakthrough comedy hit.

Hey, just in case anyone's looking for season 1 on region 2 DVD, it's going to be released in November of this year
    Link

It's definitely worth checking out if you haven't seen it yet. I'd imagine a region 2 DVD release of season 2 will also come, though it's probably not coming out until VIVA has finished its run in 2012.

Best new comedy in years. Saddens me to see it relegated to 3e and Viva while Modern Family got the big push on Sky 1.

Cheers Basq, I've never heard of this before.

Ah.. to be fair.. 'Modern Family' is excellent, but 'Community' does deserve much better!

Is it only on bloody VIVA in the UK? Christ, I couldn't even find that on my Sky EPG with a map!

    It is absolutely fantastic..

.. if you have to watch one episode to get you hooked, 'Modern Warfare' (paintball episode from season 1).

Modern Family is good, very good, but horribly overrated when compared to the props Community gets. Admittedly I think Community isn't right for Sky 1, a little too meta for them methinks.

Noooooo! you cant just jump in to any one episode, you need to watch the first couple to get what all the characters are about, etc. My friend kept bugging me to watch this show, i didnt trust him tbh but eventually i gave in, and he was absolutely on the ball- give it two episodes to get to know the characters, and then make a judgement call. My cold heart immediately warmed when i heard the rap, and then krumping sweetened the deal.....

personally i think that they have some amazing parts throughout the series, (yes, they end the 1st season on an amazing high), but its just not as funny if you just show somebody a random youtube clip where they dont know the characters. it really rewards proper fans, rather than channel surfers.

so im gonna suggest no spoilers here (and DEFO dont read the amazon/etc summaries!), and just anyone interested just set aside 40 mins to watch the first 2 episodes. ive suggested this to about 10 friends since, and all have become hooked :D

The reason I suggested 'Modern Warfare' is it's a perfect standalone episode.

Didn't like the first few episodes of the show myself to be honest... but it got amazing as it went on.

oh yeah, me too, it felt very cliche with jeff trying to get with britta, etc- quite boring really. but once that went on the backburner then it got really good.

you have a good point with MW- it is quite standalone, but then again i dont think its very representative of the rest of the series i guess. also, i think its better knowing nothing about it before you watch it- half of the entertainment for me was in the surprise of it all!

Agreed! I was convinced it was never going to come out over here and was resigned to simply not getting it. The second season is definitely stronger overall, but from around ep 5 of S1 onwards, it's really all top quality stuff.
Nice spot for Zavvi too - I'll have to pre-order there closer to the time.
Now if we could just get Parks & Recreation on region 2 DVD...

Yep.. the first season was average enough.

But the second and third seasons were absolutely top-notch!
