I want to correct some serious misinformation

Right, a few months back I posted a thread that caused a bit of a stir: https://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2056247748

I want to point out that after some research into the neurological causes of common Mental Ilnesses such as Depression, this original thread is mostly simple dangerous misinformation. A well known mate of mine hung himself, much to my dismay. This very action was NOT a failure of Psychiatry or any associated treatment, rather a failure on his part to seek treatment. Just because doctors are faced with the complexity of a multifaceted mind and overprescription, it's not enough to say the profession is not working towards more robust solutions.

This stuff is simply far too complicated and outside of my own remit. I am simply not qualified to speak on these matters. My qualifications are not medical based, you can be assured of that. It's not easy to admit you are wrong, but I feel my decision to clear up this matter is a matter of public interest. Spreading misinformation when it comes to Mental Health issues is not going to decrease the stigma surrounding this topic. To anyone suffering from mental illness such as Depression, you have probably shown more courage than I ever will.

Boards.ie disserviced the community by not banning me for that thread. Strive to improve and prepare for the future, don't let an illness define you.

This thread reminds me a bit of this scene:

Anyway, there's no need to apologise, it happened a few months ago.

So you're either admitting you have 2 accounts, or trying to impersonate another poster? Either way, not a good move.

Dupe accounts are simple to spot by moderators. This is not an impersonation. I am only using this for temporary purposes.

Just to avoid this thread going off on an unnecessary tangent - the OP has had issues accessing their original account that appear to remain unresolved. I can confirm that this account hasn't been used to evade any bans and the original account has not been used since this one was created.

Thanks for that Naikon, depression imo is like a numbness, that's my word for it.

You sit outside of your life looking in, feeling helpless.

It's not about the thanks whoring, I swear:pac: But yeah, it's a pretty serious problem alright. Most of the suicide statistics in this country are probably brushed under the carpet. This needs to change, at least in Ireland.

Don't worry, I won't be derailing any more threads:)

Ah fair play to you, few people are willing to admit when they're wrong. So I'm glad to see you were.

You spouted a load of 'facts' in that other thread..

Even in this one..its all far removed 'words' except in the the middle
where you say 'a mate I know'..or something like that.

Ya.you've said you're not qualified to spout, but you have done!

Are you going to back and retract from all forums??

I can't see where you've derailed this one, depression should be talked about more openly imo and AHs no matter what people say is a forum that listens and helps when they know the OP is serious.

That thread is in a different forum, so ask a mod there to either reopen it or to add this post to the end.

Boards cant be expected to fact check every post, youre responsible for your posts.

Im locking this so it doesnt turn into a cross-forum debate and its already getting pretty heated.
