Car ads - Cars parked on grass ??

Where did this craze for parking cars on grass when you're taking photos to sell them come from ? What is the purpose ? If I see a car parked up on the grass it puts me right off.

I notice they don't tend to do this on the northern / UK adverts. Is it a recent "group think" type craze ?

In the good old days you only parked up a non driving scrap car out of the way on the grass to become a permanent hen house, and to prevent the oil leaks from staining the yard.

It seems to be a done deal type craze, and makes them look like chancers.

There was an ad in the skangermobiles thread earlier where the car was in a field for 3 photos and in a lake for 1...

Not only for ads - people do it too in the PAPOYCH thread too, most unusual!

Don't mind the grass so much, don't get the water thing, what are they trying to prove? That it's waterproof? Silly, alright.
What I hate in ads is scangerspeak, deliberatley misspelt words, inconsequential drivel and, as always, already shouting at people before they even ring, like NO TIMEWASTERS, TESTPILOTS, WINDOWLICKERS, etc...
Blanked out reg so you can't do a carcheck is also there.
All of the above mostly found on clapped out, souped up bangers and scangermobiles, stolen, clocked or otherwise dodgy cars.
If all of the above applies and the guy wants to meet you in a petrol station, RUN!!!

Do you know what window licker means, I can't imagine seeing that in an advert.
There is a legitimate reason for blocking the number plate. Think about it....

So you can't do a carcheck on it is my guess.
Why else? A numberplate is hardly a state secret.

    sure......

Someone could fit your number to an identical stolen model. That's the main reason for blocking it.

Probably cause it makes the car look lower than it is.
    Cause it looks kewl:cool:
Seen a few of the ones in the water lately, what utter planks:D

why bother when they could drive down the street and pick out an identical car without all the boy racer add ons.

Nah, that's the excuse for blocking it. Anyone can copy your plate anyway by just seeing it on the road.

If you check their ads, you'll see that legit reputable car dealers never hide the plate.

That's why I took off my number plates and drive around with them in the boot.

Done Deal gives me the shivers , and its not just the cars .

You must say though that the green background does look impressive on the car sale photo's .

'No timewasters ' gives the impression that if you go look at it , you must buy it .
