Moving to NI

    I am currently in receipt of job seekers allowance, i just got a college place in Newry part time and im thinking of moving there. Does anyone know if i can move my claim from the republic to the north? Cheers.

    Jobseekers allowance is non transferable. You could apply for Back to Education Allowance.

    No, and you would not get benefits from the north if you are a student part time or full time.

    There is a part time option as well. You fill out the same form.

    Thats true, but the OP couldn't do the part time option and live in Newry and keep his claim. If it was a full time degree course under BTEA it would be OK.
