    Hi,
Does anyone know when/if carbon tax is being introduced on coal and briquettes. I overheard person saying both going up by 10% on 1st Sep. Is this true as i would need to stock up this weekend.
    Thanks

Last I heard , Carbon Tax on solid fuel was scrapped at the request of the Committe of Agriculture in the House of the Oireachtas .

There are rumours of an increase in September , but this may have to do with the increasing cost of imported raw materials .

Carbon tax will be about € 45 per ton. Not sure when it will be introduced. No tax is being imposed on briquettes.

Can you give us some more info on this please .

Why would they impose tax on briquettes , sure they would only be taxing themselves .

€45 per tonne is €1.80 per bag of coal , and no doubt the retailers and suppliers will also add an increase .

No surprise really , as Bord Gais were awarded a 22% increase today .

Note that €45 is about an increase of 11 %
