    hi,

deleted 120gb of music files which i was able to recover using wondershare data recovery. However i now have 270gb of recovered mp3s which have names like f3565.mp3. now iTunes recognizes these files as my library but i can't work out which files i can get rid of. is there a simple way of renaming the files?

You could try MP3 Rage. I've used it for similar jobs.

Provided the ID3 tags are intact, iTunes has an option for renaming the files based on the song title, artist, album, etc.
