i was kinda half thinking about getting one of these, and i was looking on ebay to see if there are any going cheap, maybe second hand
anyway, i noticed that the japanese and american models are always cheaper
the "kiss x4" and the "rebel t2i" are more numerous on there than the proper 550d

does anyone know why there are so many imports on sale from sellers in the uk, and should i be weary of them?
for some reason i find im reluctant to even consider getting one of those things, even though the seller has great feedback

Exact same camera, regardless of region. Only difference is it is usually 10-20% cheaper in those territories outside of Europe, which maybe the reason you'll find a lot of those 'models' on UK e-bay.

maybe the guys on ebay arent actually based in the uk
ive had stuff sent to be from china, even though on ebay the item location was the uk
that would be a bummer if you had to pay duty on it when it got here

European product prices, particularly electronics, are universally more expensive than US and Asian markets. Its a simple matter of demographics - comparatively more people in Europe have more disposable income than in Asia and the US. We're wealthier in general, and so electronics manufacturers charge more. There's also more stringent health and safety regulations regarding all devices, so that may factor in too.

All that aside; the Kiss X4, Rebel T2i and 550D are all identical, apart from the name badge on the front. The Kiss X4 even ships with European language settings. I wouldn't worry about it too much.
