Is it worth getting a remap

    Hi,

I've a 320i bmw and was looking at getting a remap for the craic, but according to chippedire.com it would only result in an additional 12hp and 20Nm of torque - taking it from 170hp to 182 hp. Do you think its worth it for 12hp? Would you even notice an increase of 12hp or would it feel pretty much the same?

    Thanks, any advice/experience appreciated.

I dont mind spending the money on it but im just wondering would the car feel any different with 12 extra hp? I've no experience of remapped engines so i dont know if its worth it - just looking for experienced opinions

A tuned car will always feel different to a stock car, in my experience anyway. When I tuned my car (also an NA Petrol) I didn't jump huge figures but the car packed way more punch in the mid range.
Give Joe a bell, he'll be happy to answer any questions you have and all that will cost is the price of a phonecall

People say that throttle response is improved a lot, ive never driven a remapped car but I know that some fly by wire cars it feels like an hour before the engine responds to the throttle..

Maybe a few other mods like a de-cat, synthetic oil and a good air filter would squeeze out another 8hp or so bringing the gains to 20hp which sounds much better than 12 ha!

Have you any other plans to modify/upgrade her in the near future?
I'd hold off on the remap if so and wait until you've the other stuff done.

It'd be best combined with a performance induction kit , preferably a Cold air one , and a performance exhaust manifold and/or a sports cat .

My old Lexus IS200 went up 24 bhp with a proper induction , an Apexi Air-Fuel controller ,and a freer flowing back box . Mapped on the TDP.ie dyno . Totally different car to drive after..
