Got a job interview :D It’s for a part time position in sweetshop. I'm a 21 year old female. Any ideas on what I should wear? Staff in store wear a uniform which consists of a polo shirt and black trousers.

Dress formally and you can't go wrong. You want to be trusted to handle the cash and be professional even if it is a sweet shop. It's still the owners livelihood.

Blouse and knee length skirt is probably best IMO. It's important not to be too formal so that you look like you fit into their corporate culture and not too casual so it shows you take the interview seriously.

Wear what seems to be the corporate uniform. If suits are worn, then wear a suit to the interview.

Thats what i was thinking, but my son was advised not to ' dress up', which I find strange! He was planning on wearing a shirt & tie which I think would be appropriate. Better be overdressed than underdressed?

Definitely. He is likely to meet a HR person as well as technical people. He neds to blend in with the overall organisation, not just the section he will be in.

He may not need the full suit for that kind of position, but definitely shirt, pants and tie, well-polished shoes etc.

I interview people on occasion and often for non-suit wearing roles. But I have to say it does impress me that someone goes to the effort of wearing a suit or even slacks and a shirt and tie....the fact that they make themselves presentable shows they are serious about the interview/job & look respectable and smart. If I were your son is wear either a suit or slacks and a shirt w/tie.

Tnks everyone for your opinions, just as I was thinking.
    Fingers crossed for him!

Hi, Just wondering about the colour of a tie with a white whirt & black pants for an interview.
Would a plain colour be more suitable than a busy patterened one?

Yep I'd imagine so. Plain colour.

The colour should be red or some variation of red such as maroon. A good contrast is needed with a white shirt.
