I know that the first year is a common year but my question is: I'm doing systems and networking and my friend is doing games development, Are there many lectures that we will be doing together?

    See you there ;)

Yeah, all the courses have common subjects in first year from what I understand.

All the subjects are the same for 1st year in a few computing courses.
    The two you mentioned included.
But you will have different timetables for some subjects.
The labs(practical involving comps) are split into smaller groups.
The theory(notes) are all joined in one lecture hall.
If you want to have all the same classes as him, you can change to his or vice versa at the start as when registering for 2nd year you can choose which you want to branch of into.
Little advice, at end of 1st year dont pick whichever one is easiest if its not the one you like, i did that, now im going back to do software.( no grant, pay fees  )

100% correct! I made the switch to software from systems in second year. Loved building the PCs, but hated the networking stuff
