she appears to be unpopular and why I cannot figure out. She is career orientated and as a result labelled an ice queen. Should she be coarser in the style of Blathnaid Ni Chofaigh.
should be more of a seductive siren in the style of Mirriam?

is part of the problem the fact that she is Gaelic speaking from the west as opposed to most of RTE who seem to hail from South Dublin.

I think the amount of media coverage she got about her debut on UK TV, and what a media star she would be there kind of backfired on her when she found out she was just another goodlooking girl among many others. IMHO Katyrn Thomas has had an easy ride in RTE since she quit her travel show. Turning up at all those FG functions must have helped her in the contest with Grainne.

I don't believe the South Dublin bias, thats one of the great RTE myths. Just some of the non south Dubs that RTE currently employ:
    • Daithi O'Shea Kerry
    • Katyrn Thomas Carlow
    • John Creedon Cork
    • Marty Morrissey Clare
    • Marty Whelan Northside Dub
    • Blathnaid Ni Chofaigh Meath
    • Anne Cassin Northside Dub
    • Anne Doyle Wexford
    • Jimmy McGee Louth
    • George Hamilton Northern Ireland
    • Ger Canning Cork
    • Mary Wilson Tipp
    • Colm Hayes Northside Dub
    • Rachel English Limerick
    • Tony O'Donoghue Cork
    • Tommy Gorman Sligo
    • Samantha Libreri Northside Dub
    • Tom McGurk Tyrone

I can confirm this, she is as genuine a person as you'll meet, very friendly.

Irrespective of her real persona, the real talent for a presenter is to really connect with the audience or viewers.

Gaybo could do it, also Terry Wogan in the UK.

Gerry Ryan also had that talent.

There is a difference between presenting and connecting.

Gráinne hasn't quite sorted that stuff out yet.

Like it or not, right or wrong her image comes across as hard.

Not too sure what she needs, but one thing is crystal clear, she ain't connecting.

Would show she has a sense of humour anyway:D. She is too perfect, very robotic, career minded and driven are good in your employees but not in a broadcaster, she needs to show she is falliable like us all. She obviousily is down to earth in real life so she needs to get that across like Ryan and Gaybo did to the audience.

That is indeed the image she portrays.

I think we need a serious person out there. Pat the Plank failed to connect with his audience yet he is till a major earner in RTE. i would rather her than mirriam presenting a current affairs programme. the blond bombshell seems to concentrate more on projecting a yummy mummy sex appeal than seriousness.
true, wogan exudes warmness, but warmness is not what we want if a presenter is to ask hard questions.
Gerry Ryan had the common touch but its not every presenters style to talk about farting and other low brow topics.

would you really like to see her connect with someone like bertie and stage something of a love in if interviewing him? that would be more in the style of tubs.
maybe she could borrow mirriams clothes. There is a recession on after all.

was she not supposed to go to the beeb or sky news? BTW the notice the female presenters on sky news project a serious image.
we need a female presenter that is high brow and not coarse and common like lucie kennedy or that wan from republic of telly.
