Supply of services in the UK

We are a small building company that have been asked to carry out some work in the UK. We will be sourcing product in the UK and will obviously be paying vat on the supply. We are not registered for vat in the UK.

How can I go about reclaiming this vat ?

Will I be charging vat to the client when invoicing the project ?

Any help or pointers in the right direction would be appreciated.

The place of supply of this service is UK (supply of services connected with immovable goods). Based on my experience, the UK VAT rules are similar to Irish rules and therefore the company may need to register for VAT in UK.

Contact Inland Revenue or seek professional advise.

    Hi OP

If the product is not being exported but simply delivered to another part of the UK where you will be working on it, the UK supplier is not supposed to zero rate the supply to Ireland as it is not an inter eu supply. He will have to charge you UK VAT.

You may need to register for UK VAT as Sled driver suggests.

    Kind Regards
