Part time course in Agriculture

    Hey all,

Anyone out there doing/done the part time course in Ag recently?. I hoped to do the online one this year but they require 20 days attendance on weekdays throughout the year and I can't manage that as working full time.

Just wondering if the courses run by the local Teagasc courses are any more accomodating? Also find it hard to get decent info on definite dates for courses and so on - they seem to be run on a very adhoc basis, or maybe I'm just having bad luck.

Any feedback would be much appreciated.

Currently doing the online version (for my sins).

They say it is 20 days but really it is only 12/3 days over two calender years as they squeeze a lot into those days. They will tell you those dates at the start.

May also be a few night exams. This way you are done in 15 months or so.

Local Teagasc office as I understand it is over a longer period and certain nights in a week so not flexible either.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks for this - guess I'll have to bite the bullet next year. I think it's a pity they can't organise something that is a bit more manageable for people who have full time jobs though.

Neither the online version or the local Teagasc office ones really seem to fit the bill.

Stamp duty no. 1 I guess.

Secondly I would like to upskill a bit in the area without leaving employment to take it on full time.
