Have you ever 'threatened' anyone with Boards.ie?

Have you ever found yourself at the wrong end of customer service/dodgy warranty policies/returns etc?
As soon as it becomes clear your possibly not going to achieve the end result you had hoped for, you find yourself telling the business involved that you are going home to start a thread on boards and you would name business involved?

I (very recently) found myself having to 'impersonate' a mod on boards (just told shop I was a moderator and was going home to start a thread).

Just wondering if anyone else found the threat of boards worked as well for them as it did for me?

I found myself using the Joe Duffy threat a few times in the past, (might as well threatened them with a wet dish cloth) but as soon as I mentioned boards, my issues got resolved in 10 mins or less. Which, to me goes to show the power boards.ie wields.

I'm going to enjoy this last cup of tea in the comfort of my own living room now, before the Garda come to arrest me for 'impersonating a Moderator' lol :D

Did they laugh you out of the shop?
    Cos I know I would.

    .

    No, not at all.
I got two issues resolved almost immediately, shops were very clearly in the wrong, and did not want the bad publicity.

I don't respond well to threats, even ridiculous ones.

Im sorry but anyone who threatens to do the Joe Duffy thing needs to be hung and quartered. It is the quickest easiest most efficient way to join the gobsh1tes club.

Write a formal letter. Talking sh1te with north dublin pensioners on the phone wont cut it

You should have threatened to write a strongly worded letter to the Irish Times - then you would have seemed far more classy.

I was here nodding saying to myself, It's good that boards is becoming a powerful media outlet etc . . .

Then I read that you go around pretending to be a moderator!

    HA!

Pity the thread title wasn't "Have you ever pretended to be a boards mod, to get your own way?"

Which moderator did you impersonate Ghandee ... if that is your real name?

Better be someone with a half decent forum under their name else it's even more of an embarrassment

    Nah - doesn't work.

Hey....be nice, or....or I'll create a thread on boards making fun of you. I'm a moderator there you know.

I hate people who use the Joe Duffy threat! A formal letter or even an email to management will achieve so much more than bitching on the radio!

Really hope the next time you use the boards threat, they won't have heard of this place!

OP I don't believe a word of it. Anyway why would you say "I'm a mod and I'm going home to start a thread" when anyone can start a thread.

You didn't seriously think saying you are a mod would do anything did you :pac: unless you said I'm rabies

hmmm ya know it's that kind of attitude that makes customer service a pain in the ass, it doesn't matter who's wrong, once the customer starts getting agressive the other person is not going to do anything for them.

Well I certainly wouldn't. Never took that shít from people when I was working in a complaints dept and they quickly learned to change their tone to get their problems sorted.

Yeah, going in all guns blazing saying "I'm moderator of the Leitrim forum and I'm going to give you what for on boards.ie" might not have them shaking in their boots (unless they are actual sheep, then they should be scared).

    Sorry Leitrim mod

Whilst most of us spend a lot of time on boards the vast majority of people couldn't give a tupenny sh1te about it

I'd just ask for the manager or head office, there's never any need for threats to get what you want, I know this and I have years retail experience to back it up

Ya in my last job customers would threaten us with going to Watchdog... yip sure ya will, and they will listen to how you were without service for all of ten minutes while repairs were taking place. Good luck with that. /rant

    1. I'm tellin the world on boards, ya got a tool for company.

    Peace

After a very dodgy tongue piercing I posted pics and info about how I was treated by the piercer. Gave me some satisfaction knowing that, while she would not listen to my complaints, others would :)

Why not? Where is your sense of pride and belonging to the best forum on the internet where you can talk about Star Trek, Mustard and Legends of the Boards all day long.

Oh wait, I see your point...

Its sad that anyone would think that anything said on an internet discussion board holds any weight in the real world. Its just **** people talk while avoiding doing any real work.

I am the shopkeeper Ghandee complained about, the first time I even heard a person use that thread!

and yes I did laugh him out, he was talking about being a moderator of the RA board on boards.ie

Ha, my mother contacted Watchdog when an English company wouldn't sort an order out for my brother. The company were straight on the phone to my mother as soon as a Watchdog researcher contacted the company.

Are you kidding? You'd be surprised with the amount of businesses that ask for bad reviews of a service to be taking down from Boards.

When I when read the OP, all I was imaging was the guy saying "Don't you know who I am? I am a Mod of Boards. That's right, Boards.ie" :pac: I don't even tell some of my friends I post on Boards. :D

Since when do you have to be a Moderator to start a thread? Why did you have to impersonate? Couldn't you have just said "I'm on boards and I'm going to start a thread about this when I get home"? Or did you think that claiming to be a Mod would give you some sort of gravitas?:confused::confused:
