Recommend Good Club Websites

Hi, I am looking to get some ideas for our club website we are hoping to build. Can anyone recommend some good club websites that they have seen, that are not overloaded with features. Our website will be relatively basic, but we would like to have a nice professional design. Thanks

go with the GAA Google sites

cheap, easy to set up and very user friendly, with lots of features

www.gaaroscommon.ie is a good county website done with Google sites

http://conahyshamrocks.gaa.ie/ is ok

Keep it simple and keep it updated (daily if necessary).

- Fixtures
- Results
- Match Reports
- Pictures
- Details of the teams your club has
- Juvenile section
- Club contacts (be careful about putting up mobile nos and personal email addresses)
- Directions to your club grounds
- Links to other GAA and local websites

After that, anything is a bonus as long as it doesn't over-complicate and get in the way of the key information above.

Also, consider setting up a Twitter & Facebook page and have that integrated with your website. Done well, this is the best way to get up-to-date information on your website as you can put up scores and match reports etc as they happen.

I recommend a club Facebook page. Not every member is going to go onto club websites to look for fixtures and whatnot. Easily done on facebook as nearly everybody, young and older, have a FB page.

You were obviously on to the same punter at sites@gaa.ie - I got the same list of sample sites Obv a copy-and-paste job

The support site at

https://sites.google.com/a/gaa.ie/gaa-support---updated-site/sites-help-page is very useful if you go down the Google Sites route

Been very impressed with Google Sites - found it fairly easy to get used to - like the way the gadgets work

Also cost was €26 which I thought was pretty good value including the domain name

not true.
a combination of website and facebook is best.
also, good club notes in the paper - give a summary of club news but direct people onto the club website for a full weekly news
