My ford focus 05 1.4 would not start yesterday. Car kept spinning as if no petrol. Car is low mileage and under warranty so I rang the garage and they called the following day to pick it up . When the guy went to put it on the truck it started. Garage rang me today to say that they cannot find a problem with it :confused::confused:

Bring it to ford to do a diagnostic (proper diag machine) only €40. Any updates for the ecu will be automatically put on.

That;s the strange thing it is at a Main Ford dealer but obviously nothing showing up ?:confused: He says if nothing shows up tomorrow he will return car as it is , makes me think , this may happen again and the warranty will be out

my mum had a megane that used to do that all the time, the garage never could figure out why, eventually traded it in.
There is a diagnostic tool by Sykes-Pickavant called a "blue box" which is plugged into your car and you drive away for a few days, go back to the garage and any intermittent issues show up on it. Ask them have they got one and also ask them to log the issue have and keep it on record that it stsred while in warranty

Both I and a colleague had a similar problem with a focus.

Occasionally the cars would not start in the mornings, after work and once even at a traffic light. Between us we brought the car to the garage 5 times before the problem was replicated by the garage. twice the AA towed the car to the garage only to have the car work perfectly when it got there !

In both cases it turned out to be an issue with the fuel level sensor or the wiring to the sensor. In my case there was a loose connector on the wiring loom in my mates case it was an intermittent fault with the sensor

    One possible issue among many.
