I don't have kids but I don't think childrens allowance can be stopped unless the child has passed a certain age. Citizens info on it here:

i assume its the forms where you write the childrens school or doctor on that you ar talking about , ring them and ask for another and then you will get the backdated payments

As far as i can remember the social sent out forms for the updating of information. If the forms weren't sent back it would have been stopped. That's one possibility.

Child Benefit is only payable if the child is resident in Ireland/EU.

They have a practice of selecting "Random" recipients of Child Benefit and sending "Please response in 21 days or we stop payment" letters.

We were "Randomly selected" every three months for more that a year, then they gave up. Wife is no-EU, which I am sure was not the reason for this...

i have to get alot of details and letters from employment, school, etc. and send it in but i was just wondering if other people are having the same problem and haven't noticed! i know some people are reliant on their child benefit and thought this would bring to their attention if it had been stopped on them also as i didnt notice for a few months!!

As I said it is "random", but certain people are more "random" than others, esp if there is a some foreign connection, in our case my wife is no-EU.

Mine was stopped to. Then the wife remembered getting a form asking was the child still in ireland and what school. Once we sent it back everything was fine and backdated.

Fair plays to them checking for spongers that are claiming but dont live here any more.

There really is no need for this, seriously, not everyone who posts on this forum is a "scrounger"...

Just get all the info gathered that they want and send it back OP... it's possible they had an old address for you on file and sent it to that one looking for information. Make sure if you move that you update all details with them and it will save future bother.
