I'm currently looking at a job in an area that I would absolutely hate, but pays 80k+.
Ignoring the fact that I won't get the job even if I do go for it as I've no experience and probably couldn't do the job anyway, it's making me wonder at how much money it would take to work at something I hated. 80k would go a long way...

You won't know until you are actually in the job whether it's worth the money.

The worst thing about the rat race is even if you win, you're still a rat.

Sacrificing ones happiness and emotiional well-being is actually a huge price to pay.

OP, if you did get that job, it makes getting a job you love easier because in the interview for whatever job you really want to do you could say you are willing to take the pay cut to be happy in a job.

    I wouldn't get it. I don't have a job currently.
I'm just speculating idly - isn't that what AH is for?

No. It's for linking to Daily Mail stories and hating on the lower classes.

    GTFO with your "speculating".

With an 80k job there'd be more "lower classes" I could hate on though.
I have only AH's best interests at heart.

When you have the cash to look after the people you care
about and have nice things I'm sure it takes out the sting.

You spend 8 hours a day doing a job you hate, 5 days a week, 48 weeks a year. There is a reason that half the English speaking world are on Prozac and Zoloft.

Touché. I shall think on what you have said.
    I still think I would though. . .
