plenty examples on you tube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AnW9qHQKNvg
A power probe is a handy tool for any electrical work it tests for live or earth sends power etc

Just be careful doing DIY electrical jobs on tractors. It's usually electrical wiring problems that cause most tractors to go on fire.
Make sure you put an in-line fuse on the live to the radio. Get the correct wire size too.

You might be able to get a radio out of an old scrapped car in a breakers yard. Maybe get an older radio that won't need a code. You could also get a speaker out of a car too.

you will have a live and one earth the rest are speaker wires if there was a radio
their before wires will be there if not connect to any live and earth wire or battery
Try argos or ebay for radio and speakers local moter shop should have an areal
make sure you dont leave any live wire untaped

Lidl / Aldi have specials on them every so often. Put in one from Lidl in the 390 a few years ago; still a better radio than I have in the car. 6 x 3 FM / AM channels, CD, USB, Aux etc. Paid c. €80 3 years ago, should be nearer to 50 now.

Radios are a waste anyway in older tractors like that or tractor with even some modern tractors with poor noise insulation. You've to have the volume set too high to be able to listen to it when the tractor is going. Longterm it'd be very bad for your hearing.

If you turn up the radio to the level you can hear it right when the tractor is working (not just ticking over) and then stop tractor and turn off engine, I bet the noise from the radio would deafen you!!

A radio in a tractor is handy though if your out fencing or working around the yard ;)

I have an old cb radio and a normal radio in my tractor neither work and I could not be bothered fixing. I would like to get the heating going the fan spins but no heat comes out. Asked the garage to fix the last time I had it in for an overhaul but they never bothered.
Nearly had a disaster last winter when I re connected the battery the wrong way around( the earth lead had red insulating tape) smoke started billowing out from underneath the dashboard just got it disconnected in time.

i would advise you to stay away from the aldi radios. A friend of mine put one into a car a few years back and all it did was flatten the battery. He tried wiring the live both ways , permanent live and switched live, switching the wires and it continued to flatten the battery.
He checked online and there was a lot of people having the same problem. Changed the radio again over it.

I bought a couple of JVC radios from pixmania a while ago. 70 euro delivered, CD mp3 players with preouts to run amps.
If you didn't want a brand name they have new CD players for 40euro with brands i have never heard.
There is also no point in paying for one out of a scrapped car when you can get new ones with a warrenty as cheap

I also was thinking of putting one in my 265 but I don't know if there was one in it. My Massey is from 1988 and has a sanky cab

Get a radio from a scrap yard cheap and a speaker or 2 motor factors for aerial and some wire, wire her up true the key so it won't flatten the battery
