Never been to see a rugby match but gonna make the effort to get up see a couple this season including a six nations match.

I live in Wexford and will be travelling alone more than likely. Depending on kick off times I might need to stop over up there. Is there cheapish lodgings near RDS (or wherever) ?

Main thing is picking the right match to go see, Heino cup would probably be the ones to see but if the tickets are considerably more then I might have to settle for a Pro12 match. Not saying Pro12 is shíte or anything just that if I'm only gonna be getting to a couple matches then I'd like to pick a couple good uns.

Anyone here regularly travel to matches from outside dublin ? know of good spots to stay, best places to sit, best matches to go to and anything else ?

Try D4hotels.com, the Mespil Hotel or Bewleys Ballsbridge. Otherwise, there are a few B&Bs in the area which might suit. The RDS is easily walkable from city centre so don't get too hung up on finding accomodation right beside the ground.

The problem with the RDS is that with capacity at 18,000 and 13-14,000 season tickets, most of the best seats are gone and the general sale are often limited to the north and south stands, which means unreserved, uncovered seats behind the goals...

    BUT:
Leinster will be playing both Munster and Bath in the Aviva before Christmas, this might be more up your street.
    OR:
If a season ticket holder can't use his seat for a given game, he can put it up for sale via the Leinster website, you might get a better seat there.
    OR:
If it's not a big game, you could always stick a request up here and see if any of the season ticket holders on boards.ie aren't using their seat and would be willing to pass it on to you in return for some Net karma. My bro usually takes mine if I'm not using it, but if it's going spare, it's yours!

There are plenty of people who drive up from Wexford for games.
Perhaps ask on Leinsterfans.com and there's bound to be someone if you're stuck for a lift. Straight road up, so it's handy!

For a HEC game in RDS, it's very difficult to get tickets, but you should certainly be able to get them for the Aviva.

For Magners League games, watch the branch website or their Facebook over the week, there are normally some on sale.

I personally prefer the Grandstand to the older Angelsea Stand. Better view.

The North and South stands are grand too, as long as you get in early to get around the middle of the tier, and as long as it's not lashing rain!

Loads of B&Bs around that area. Leeson B&B, D4 Hotels etc are all grand. You won't go far wrong with accom in D4.
