I am needing to buy a second car for the wife. It will only be used for short runs to and from the DART. The only criteria is that it must be cheap to tax and have 5 doors.

I already have a Mk 5 Golf GTI so i dont car what the car is like to drive or the image.

    Any suggestions appreciated.

    I'd have this -

    A low mileage Seat Ibiza

Decent build, not exciting, but €2,200....

Sound like one of these yokes would fit that criteria the best.

Cheap to tax, cheap to insure, reliable, easy to maintain, and great mpg, and very good at what it does.

It's a bit like a fat girl, it's fun to take for a ride, but just don't let your friends see you.

Good call on the Fiat Panda. It would certainly fit the bill. It is pretty much a Fiat 500 in a less desirable package.

Fiat have made some awful cars, but this is not one.

Fiat actually do small cheap cars very well most of the time.

If you don't mind the looks (and some people actually like them), they are a very underrated, cheap to run, practical, reliable car.

This is a review of the slightly newer model, but there is nearly no differences worth worring about.
Even top gear likes em, James May ended up buying one after reviewing it.
