Some help on Job Seekers

A year ago myself and my girlfriend left Ireland to travel and hoped to get work to stay away longer but it didnt happen for us. I had worked full time for 8 years before i left and left the job voluntarily. Am i entitled to jobseekers payments while i try to find work? I have read on the forums FAQs that you can be not eligible for 9 weeks for Job Seekers if you left voluntarily, does it make a difference if we were away for a year looking for work or does this fall into a different rule? With the wait for Job Seekers plus 9 weeks this could put us in a really difficult position.

Thanks in advance for your advice.

Step one apply for JSB,if you are disqualified for 9 weeks appeal this decision.
In the mean while go to your local CWO and ask for a hardship payment if you have no funds.

Technically you have already served you 9 weeks disqualification period as you have been out of the country since you left your job.
