Old MF lenses on DSLRs

I've just taken delivery of a couple of old prime lenses off the 'bay.

    I've got a Nikkor 135mm f3.5 AI and a Nikkor 100mm f2.8 E Series

I've not put them on a camera yet and although the documentation says a D7000 can take the AI lens, the bayonet looks worringly deep. I'll have to thread carefully there, forgive the pun.

Got each lens for less than €100 and they are perfect. The 135mm is particularly nice, good weight in it too at over 400g. Metal body and (I'm hoping quality glass)

Has anyone else gone looking for older quality lenses for their DSLRs? What experiences have you had. I'm looking forward to taking both these out for a tryout over the weekend.

I generally use old MF lenses on my old MF Nikon bodies myself. The D7000 is unique in that it's actually the first consumer level Nikon digital body that can actually meter with AI/AIS lenses, up until now the cheapest bodies that had the aperture lug were the D200/300.

They should mount just fine. There are numerous technicalities, but the mechanical nature of the mount hasn't changed in quite a while. Just don't try and mount pre-ai lenses or the older fisheyes that needed mirror lockup.

I use an E series 70-210. (I think) mf and it's great, if not a little tricky to nail the focus. I also use an 85mm f/1.4 ais which is probably the best lens I have. Period. I use 'em on D300 and D700 bodies.

    Go for it!
