Hi guys wondering if someone can help, when I switch my computer on it starts to boot up but after a few seconds it switches off, I have opened it up to search for shorts but the only problem I can find is the hard drive,
If I switch it on with the hard drive plugged out and let it switch on for about 5-10 seconds and then plug the hard drive back into the mother board it works fine, so obviously I have a problem with my hard drive, any ideas what and can it be fixed.

When you say switches off do all lights etc turn off? If so I would be very suprised a hard drive would cause this, those kind of symptoms sound like a power supply issue, a dead or faulty hard drive in my expierience will still allow the machine to POST and will either fail to load windows or not be detected when its POSTing

The most likely cause is a failing power supply unit.

One of my machines started to behave exactly the same and then the psu packed in completely.
