Car Tax - Car off the road

    Hi,
    I will be travelling for a few months from September to February. My car tax is up just after I leave and the car will be off the road while I am gone. I know in the past, you just needed to fill in a form when you returned wanting to tax the car again stating it was off the road for x amount of time and get it stamped/signed by the guards. I thought I heard recently that you now have to go to the guards before you take it off the road but can't find anything about it anywhere. Does anybody know the process? Can I just go to the guards when I return?

    i had a car that was off road for a while i got the form stamped when i wanted the car back on the road Just get it stamped when you want to re-tax it.
