Easy question. Anybody who makes the "sports entertainment" joke will forever lose my respect.

I started in 2005 with the Eddie/Rey angle.

Started watching in about 96/97. Stopped watching then from about 2007 - 2011, apart from the wrestlemanias. Got back into it when The Rock returned back in February.

Started the beginning of 2000 a few weeks after Channel 4 started showing it. Fell out for a few years after that though. Tried to keep up every now and again but hard without internet at home and no Sky. Was just buying the odd PPV here and there. Started paying more attention when the Chris Benoit thing happened. Was checking wrestling news for ages after it, got me back into it.

Started watching it in the Summer of 98. There was times when my interest dropped a little but i'm still watching it.

From about 1990 (I was three!) because it was always on in our house. Never a time when I stopped watching since then and I was very lucky to have relations who would show me AWA, All Japan, New Japan and NWA tapes at a very young age, so I became educated on everything wrestling from the start. I intend on doing the same thing with my kids when they turn 3 :D

I remember the "Friday Night Wars", flicking between WCW on TNT at 9 and Raw on Sky Sports 3 at 10. Kept with it 'til bout mid 2005 (I remember getting up early every Saturday morning to catch football Italia on Channel 4 at 9 and SmackDown at 10 on Sky1). I fell out of it storyline wise around late 2004/early 2005 but watched the odd PPV. Came back to it around late 2007/early 2008 and have been with it since.

I would say 1987/8 as well. I remember arguing with people in school about whether Macho Man or Hogan were better which is about right. My viewing was limited to glimpses late at night on Sky One though. Was avidly watching on a weekly basis by 1990/1 I'd say.

1994/95 or therabouts,I have a vivid memory of Yoko and Owen winning the tag titles for some reason.

Have been a massive fan ever since, only 'smartened up' at around the time of the WWF vs WCW invasion feud in 01,mainly cos my family got our first PC then!

I first saw WWF around 88/89 and can still remember seeing Ricky Steamboat dressed as a Dragon and blowing flames from his mouth, and thinking it was the greatest thing I'd ever seen, then I used to watch WCW with my Nan on a Saturday afternoon, stopped watching around 1994ish until 1998/99..

Started when I was around 3, Hogan/Warrior/Savage era. Watched it religiously until just around when Eddie Guerrero died, not due to lack of interest but couldn't afford the channels anymore. Got back into it in the last year when I heard that there was an Irish fella "entertaining", and been hooked ever since. My first episode of Raw in about 6/7 years was awesome, Miz cashed in the MitB.

Wow so very similar to myself! Stopped watching sometime 92ish and started watching again in the fall of 1996 (when we got Sky Sports back). And have been watching ever since. Got bitten by the wrestling bug twice! (Hulkamania Era and Attitude Era) so I'm a lifer now!

Went to my first WWF live show then in 1994

exact same as me, would have around or maybe just after Mania 3, stopped around Mania 10, next one I saw was 14, watched consistently until about 2005 ish, then on and off over the last few years, interest peaked for the Wrestlemanias I went to, kinda drifted off the last year or so, dint even watch the Rumble this year, first one I've missed in well over a decade. Punk reignited interest, interesting to see where they go from here.

Watched religiously from 1987-1993ish, then 1996-2002ish. . dont really watch anymore but great times an all that. I always remember the feeling of pure heaven seeing the new edition of Pro Wrestling Illustrated on the shelves in Easons in the 80s. WWF Magazine was for girls.

I remember watching Livewire and Superstars (iirc) on Sky1 weekend mornings. Definitely watched in 1998, not sure if I can remember anything from '97. Taped a few PPVs off Sky and Channel 4. Still vividly remember the day I showed up for an Under 10s soccer match to hear the guys talking about Owen Hart dying the night before. :(

Kept up with Smackdown and a few PPVs here and there over the last decade, sometimes the odd repeat of RAW.

I've been watching RAW nearly every week since 2008 (college sleeping patterns FTW) and started streaming a lot of PPVs this year. :)

Wrestlemania 10. Had been living in Canada for a couple of years by then as a kid, the cousins were big fans of it and so had it ordered. Hooked.

Returned to Ireland, watched as much as possible but never saw any of the PPV's except for Wrestlemania 12. It was mainly the highlight shows on the weeknds like Liverwire, Metal, Superstars, Shotgun, etc. After that I took a break up to late 97, think it was a week or two before In Your House Bad Blood. Beside the odd week here or there during the years I've never really looked back. Though at times, I'm astonished I haven't taken extended breaks(more than a month) from wrestling.

Been watching as long as I can remember, I remember watching Survivor Series 1990 about 50 times as a kid and still to this day it's up there with my favorite PPV's of all time. I'm early 20's so 20 years I guess. Never stopped.

Watched it as a kid bout 20 years ago, first real memory of wrestling was either Randy Savage gettin bitten by d snake, or Shawn Michaels puttin Janetti through the barbershop window, whichever came first. They're d oldest memories that stand out to me

My absolute first memory was flicking the channels in 1987 and seeing Adrian Adonis " blinding " Rowdy Roddy Piper on a Saturday Night's Main Event

I can remember thing " **** me, this is crazy, what is going on " and since then I've been hooked bar the early 00's for some reason, don't know why but I pretty much missed the Lesnar / Goldberg era.

Can recall watching WM III live on a Sunday night from about 8 - 12 and being allowed stay up, even on a school night. My friends dad was watching with us that night, and when he passed away I recalled fondly how he would pretend it was real to us so as not to ruin the pretence :)

Great days, but now I've introduced my two boys to the sport and my youngest (5) greets me almost everyday when I get in with " can we have a wrestle fight ? " :P

( He also has a slick Del Rio armbar )

definitely late 80s, i would have been three or four.........

the first ppv that i got to see in full would have been survivor series 1991 iirc, where taker beat hogan thanks to flair and the steel chair under hogans head for the tombstone.

happy times. although, at that stage, i was still an innocent hulkamaniac.....oh how the tables have turned. really miss the funeral parlour!!

I dont remember not watching tbh although it was not watching on a consistant basis until the Attitude era was in full swing I guess. Watched earlier than this but my main memories from when I first really got into it are of people like Taker, HBK, Bret and a few others aka the guys who now get shown as the Legends while even people who I considerd as the legends back then like Piper, Snuka, Dibiase Sr, Steamboat etc still get wheeled out a bit

Mind tends to default to Summerslam '99 as the starting point but it would have been since '98 with WCW. Ditched them as soon as I got Sky Sports.

Thats oddly close to mine bar the brother part (mine is younger). I was born in October so it'd probably be '88 for me. My Dad watched it every week so I ended up watching it with him. I can remember wrestlers, but nothing specific until King of the Ring 1996. Jake Roberts beating Vader and getting crushed afterwards. Austin beat someone (I want to say Mero) before beating an injured Roberts in the finals. Then the 3:16 acceptance speech with Doc Hendrix I believe. Cant remember any of the other matches on the show though.

I have watched since 1989 but it was 2006 before I got to watch it on a regular basis.

So in 89 early 90's i relied on tapes from my uncle.
I do remember hearing in school one Monday that Hogan lost the title to undertaker with flairs help. But I didn't believe it as I didn't know who flair was.

Later on it was into my next door neighbours to watch RAW but not consistent.
Smackdown when it arrived was in my cousins house but again not regular.

We didn't have sky sports until late enough and even when we did there was no way my dad was handing over the remote.

Sad to say I missed tonnes of the attitude era, only getting to see the odd PPV when I didn't have school the next day and the water downed saturday morning highlight show.

It was 06 before I got out of the parents house and had access to Sky Sports when I wanted.

Started with watching WCW on and off from 1996 onwards. Really only got into WWE around the time of Summerslam 2000. From 2007 to 2010 I barely watched anything and have only been a regular viewer again in the last year or so.

I watched casually from the early 90s, loved it but didn't have Sky to watch it weeke to week. Then latish 90s I get big into into it, just as the AE became the big thing. Then I J1ed it in the states for the summer of 2001 and got to watch Raw as it happened but about a year after I came home I stopped watching. That was until Royal Rumble 2010 when I got back into it and now I'm more into it than ever, despite it not being quite as good as the late 90s, early 00s.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 335 ✭✭johnnycnandy

Started somewhere around 1989/90. Switched off in 1996 when Bret Hart started turning heel. Started again in January 2000. Have watched the last 11 years on and off. Was kinda outta the loop from hbk's retirement til the summer of punk angle started.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 160 ✭✭Brian Elliott

I went into school one day in April 1991, and everyone was going nuts about something called WrestleMania VII? I'd never heard of it, or the WWF. I was 10, and I knew who Big Daddy and Giant Haystacks were, but I had no real concept of what pro wrestling was.

Anyway, I was immediately hooked. Two years later I bought my first Japanese compilation tape, and my first UFC tape a year after that...

Started around late 91/ early 92 when the Macho/Flair feud was just starting up & Bret was starting to make his way to the top. Some of best memories of this time period were was the SNME were HBK beat the British Bulldog to win his first tittle. Also became a big fan of Money Inc. The chemistry IRS & Diabase had was great. Also remember that infamous World Tittle match between Flair & Savage a few weeks after Summerslam 92 that Vince made them do twice because he wasnt happy with how the match was going.

Stopped watching around early 97 & then got back into it late 98 when the whole Vince/Austin feud started & the AE became huge. Loved everything about the attitude era.
The whole Undertaker's Ministry thing I taught was great. Not only was it The Undertakers best persona but it also gave guys like Edge,Christian & Bradshaw there first big push.
