I can't adjust the brightness on my laptop. It seems to be the case that when the power is plugged out, the brightness it set to the minimum and when the power is plugged in, it's set to the maximum. The [Fn] + [cursor] won't work. Is there another way?

You can adjust the brightness in the Power Options. Its in the Control Panel but depending on the OS you should be able to get there by clicking the battery icon on the taskbar.

Also many laptop manufacturers have their own utilities with options for power (example 'Acer ePower Manager' or something like that), so check if you have that installed or if it is available on the manufacturers website.
