    Hello all.
Im thinking if changing the speaker in my mkiv the existing speaker is the ev black shadow speaker its great but its not for me.
    Its loud
    It cuts trough everything
    Its pristine
    But its too hard.
You cant eq the hardness out and the hardness is in the speaker not the amp.
There is a fender amp I like with a fender designed eminence speaker quite similar to this. http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/tt246/tap4154/Super210Speaker.jpg

And it works well tonally I like it however the.volume drops too nothing and it would not handle the boogie.

Im looking for a 200w soft sounding speaker.
Or has any one ever compared different speakers in the mk series

How about an EV12ML? It'll make the amp sound a lot clearer and it'll be 10 times louder than the ****ty fender designed speakers.

EV12L thats the speaker I want out!!
Yes it is much louder than the fender/eminence but the eminence one blws it away tonally.

Hmm maybe try and get 2 of the fender speakers and wire them in an extension cab if that's the sound you like.

You won't need a 200 watt speaker by the way, the mesa's only 85 watts so you're looking at a 100 watt speaker. That'll handle it no problem.

Possibly look for a Mesa C90, they're quite soft. I wouldn't recommend a V30 as they can be quite harsh too. Maybe a Celestion of some sort, or an Eminence?

Most people tend to love Mesa's with V30's or EV12L's in them so I'm at a loss for recommendations.

    Thanks

I think the amp merits at least a 150w speaker! Its by far the loudest amp I have ever played and a 100w Marshall 412 beside it at a gig the boogie left me wanting nothing.

    I dont know what a v30 is.
I do know that some mkivs came with a c90 but have never tried knelt spoke to anyone that has compared.
    I might try.out a c90.
I have considered putting an eminence in the amp.and using another under it but it would be just too much lugging around.
My research today has me looking at an eminence delta pro 12.
Seems to be the front runner but would really like to speak to someone that has compared them

The choice of 150 w speakers is pretty limited.

For 100 w it looks a bit better. A Jensen Blackbird or even a Fane AXA could be good choices. Scumback also make 100 w versions of Celestion style speakers. The Scholz Sugarcone also seems to enjoy a lot of love, though I have never tried it myself.

Otherwise, this is probably worth a watch to get an idea of what is available.
