02 Silver upgrade & Iphone 5?

    Hi,

I have a business contract with o2 for 18months. I am 12 months into the 18 month contact and I have just checked online and I am now entitled to a silver upgrade. (Anyone have info on the levels?) This allows me to get a iphone 4 for €250 (bargain...not) I figure it would be best to hold off buying until the "iphone 5" comes down the line.

Just wondering if anyone knows would I need to re-enter into an 18month contract to upgrade and also has anybody any indication when the i5 is coming out?

    Thank you :D

Yes, you will need to re-contract when upgrading.

Didn't O2 change the upgrade criteria after the iPhone 4 was released. Iirc you can only upgrade if your contract is up but it might be different with a business account

My wife's company had their account with 02 and they wouldn't give them upgrades to iPhone 4s. They had to leave and go back as new customers to get them.

O2's basic smartphone tariff now only allows 250mb of data - you will be forced onto that.

For me, that's enough reason to jump from O2 come iPhone 5

Grrrr just off the from O2 cc. I found it very frustrating as I was asking what are the distinctions between the upgrade levels and how and when could I progress onto a platinum, diamond, gold etc. She told me that o2 do not release that information and to keep monitoring my account online. How could they not have this information? They hardly just randomly upgrade accounts without certain criteria. I will not be signing to another 18 month contract again in a hurry. I would change to meteor however they I assume they will be slow to release the iphone 5.

Three has fantastic offers however I would be concerned with coverage as I am living in the sticks!!

Of course they know what level each upgrade is at, they just won't tell you. I had a gold one but was spending about 100 per month on the advance 350. Tbh their plans are crap compared to 3 meteor/emobile

I got a 32 gb off emobile for nothing as a new customer and for 74 per month I get upto 45000 mins 10000 texts and 15gb of data

Just checked eMobile/Three/Meteor - great value tariffs compared to O2.
Even Vodafone give 1gb data. Any changes to O2 tariff will probably bring it back up to 1gb.

I defo wouldn't go for 24 month contract with anybody though. With iphone being late this year, you would most likely get stuck with a phone which is 2 generations old.

    That sounds very good
    Is that €74 inc vat?
Can your data allowance be used for tethering?

    I'm currently paying o2
    €69 unlimited calls/texts to all irish numbers + €10 1GB data addon = €79 PLUS VAT:(

My 18 month contract with O2 has recently expired and I am due a Gold upgrade. I have a 32gb iPhone 3GS.

My monthly spend was circa €70 with one or two months higher than that. The fact that they still want €300 to upgrade and enter into a new 18 month contract is a bit much. I appreciate that the handsets cost a small fortune but surely they are still making a high enough margin not to have to charge €300 on the upgrade!

Think I'll be moving to Three and taking one of their introductory offers tbh.

yeah its inc vat, the 16gb is free aswell and €69 per month, both prices are inc a €10 discount for having an eircom landline and yes you can use the data allowance to tether
