Membership query

Hi all,
I'm a former member of Tipperary GC and have resumed my playing 'career' recently. Been playing in Co. Waterford (summer home destination) mainly but also in Dublin, Kildare and Westmeath. I have the Golf bug back well and truly:D.
I'm now looking to join a club as a means to get a handicap and improve my game. Toying with the idea of joining Slievenamon (I just qualify under the 50km rule) but spend so much time in Waterford that I'm also considering joining Dungarvan as a country member. My question is: can I join Slievenamon as a distance member and Dungarvan as a country member or do I need to be a 'full' member somewhere to get country membership in Dungarvan?

How much were you quoted for both?
Im also based in Waterford and looking to join a waterford club..maybe if we could get a group we could get a super group deal?

As far as i know no you don't need to be a full member anywhere but certain clubs may have there own rules.

Being a distance member in Slievenamon in effect makes you a full member, only reason it is cheaper is because you shouln'd in theory play there as often as the full members.

Distance Membership in Slievenamon is €180 per annum but they are offering a pro-rata rate for the rest of the calendar year. €80 last I heard.

Dungarvan quoted me an introductory rate of €500 from now until the end of 2012 and €245 country membership as long as I am a 'full' member elsewhere.

It'd be great to get a group - anyone else interested?

If that's true than the €245 country membership for Dungarvan looks great value
