DCOM Server Process Launcher Service terminated unexpectedly

I have an Acer Aspire 1350c laptop which hasn't been used in a couple of years.

I recently decided to have a look at it again with an eye on upgrading the memory, haddrive and reinstalling the o/s.

However every time I turn it on, it shows this mesage
This system is shutting down. Please save all work in progress and log off. Any unsaved changes will be lost. This shutdown initiated by NT Authority\System.

Windows must now restart because the DCOM Server Process Launcher Service terminated unexpectedly.

Then it proceeds to count down from 60 seconds before restarting

I've found a few solutions online however I don't get enough time to do anything.

Am I best of entering setup on start up and booting from a recovery cd?

    Thanks for reading

Just re-install. Seeing as it hasn't been used for so long then you won't be losing anything important. Save yourself the hassle of wasting time looking for the source of the problem.
