what other mods have you got done to it? I'd say the lads from Urban Performance would be able to help or advise.

wouldnt be worth it unless you had supporting mods to aid the remap such as improved breathing (upgraded filter/cold air feed/induction), decent free flowing exhaust, maybe de-catted.

also what engine is in your prelude?
    SOHC or DOHC?

There are turbo kits available and lots of info online for modding these lovely cars. If it's the 2.0 16V PGM-Fi model (B20A Engine) then there are some basic mods you can perform on the engine to get a bit more low down power - TPS and secondary intake lock to mention just 2.

The most beneficial would be to get the piston rings replaced and the valve seals sorted. At least then you'll get it back to it's former 156BHP glory. The engines are pretty bomb proof and reliable in my 11 years of experience with mine. As soon as I have the money I intend getting the engine stripped down and rebuilt to restore compression and get back the horses that were lost over the years.

Nice car, best of luck with it. If you need any help with it let me know ?!

How much do you think an engine rebuild would be?

I was quoted about 1700 by a very reputable company in Meath, though that price was lowered if I brought them just the engine - about 1300 euro. I know that sounds like a lot of money for such an old car but from what I read and my own personal like for the car it's well worth the effort !

Given that these cars are about 20 years old the HP is probably about 2/3 rds what it should be, or even less. Depends on how well the car has been looked after I think.

There are other issues with these cars though, problems starting when the weather is hot - ECU Main Relay. Clutch Slave cylinder, brake Master cylinder, ABS, AC and various ball joints. But it's worth the effort to fix all these things. Very striking car that gets noticed a lot. Rear Steering box can give problems too, though mine was sorted by simply replacing the oil in it ! Rusting of the rear wheel arches is common too.

I've had a lot of experience with my 1990 4WS-Si since I bought it in 2000 so can probably help you with a lot of the common problems with them.
