Security error with "My Documents" on my desktop

I'm running Windows XP with the latest updates.

    6034073

I'm getting this when I double click the "My Documents" icon on my desktop. I haven't made any changes to my PC since it last worked about 5 mins ago.

Has anyone encounted this before? Is there something going on in the background on my PC that I should be looking out for?

It'll probably fix itself when I reboot but I'm curious to know what's happening. I CAN access My Documents fine by typing it into the address bar.

    Thanks

Have you changed the location of the My Documents folder at any point? Is this machine on a domain or is it standalone?

I've never changed the location of my documents.
This machine is a standalone home PC.

If the 'My Documents' on the desktop is just a link and NOT the folder itself then delete it, navigate to the My Documents folder, right click and choose send to, from the next menu choose Desktop (create shortcut).

This will recreate the shortcut which should then work.

It's not a "shortcut" but it is the Windows inbuilt shortcut, if that makes sense.
It's not giving me the message any more since I rebooted but I'm still curious as to what might have caused it.
