Passed through a village called Fore at the weekend and discovered this cycle trail...

Looks like a great excuse to get out and tackle a 585km ride (according to the link below). Logistics might be a bit of a problem since it's probably a three day job!

Never realised the Tain Trail was so long. I've only ever cycled the bit around the Cooley Pennisula and I thought that was the guts of the trial.

I'm very interrested to cycle this trail. Can someone maybe confirm if this is statement is true for the entire route: "The trail is fully signposted with distinctive Brown Bull finger post signs" on http://www.longford.ie/longford_content.aspx?id=264&linkidentifier=id&itemid=264 ? I know the signs exist around Drogeda.

    This is also nice information:

I know they exist on the Cooley Peninsula. Over Christmas I did a drive around the area to check the signs went where I thought and it seems well sign posted. The only confusing bit might be in Carlingford where they have added 3 or 4 new walking loops which go in different directions from the Tain trail itself. Though they are white signposts.

I never got round to cycling it.

I've seen them in Longford and always wondered what it was, I've also seen signs saying "Tain Trail" too.

Cooley Peninsula bit has both on and off road sections. Don't know about the rest.

Any part of the trail that I've seen in Westmeath is all on "normal" road and signposted pretty well.

Would be nice to have a gpx file of the entire route for the ol' garmin.
