What cliches out there do you think are actually true?

Mine is "Actions speak louder than words".

Empty cans make the most sound

True in any workplace, the people who talk in meetings the most usually have the least to say.
Same for school children too I suppose, that's why teachers say it

    Which leads me onto:
    "Think twice--speak once"

You get what you pay for.

If something seems too good to be true, it almost certainly is.

"The grass is always greener on the other side"

No matter what you're doing in life for any length of time, other people are always studying/working at or doing more interesting things.

They, of course, say the same about what you're doing.

    True enough imo.

"No matter where you go you always take yourself with you"

If you're a pessimistic miserable person, well going traveling or going working in Australia isn't going to magically change you or gain you lots of new confidence or friends.

"I heard voices in my head"
    ...
    as opposed to where?

    robbed from Jimmy Carr

Also, one I hate more than any is when someone says "I'm just saying is all"

I know you're just saying, I wouldn't expect you to transmit through semaphore or morse code. By saying that you're 'just saying', doesn't give you the excuse to offend.

I think "Empty vessels make most noise" has a better ring to it.

Never a truer word spoken, in either case.

You think that's true in reality and that everyone who says it isn't racist?
