Friends are visiting Carrowniskey from UK in September and it's essential that they keep in email contact with home. Does anyone know any wireless hotspots in the area please?

You won't find any in Louisburgh, you will probably find one in the hotels in Westport.

    Do you mean free WIFI?

It's a remote surf beach so nothing nearby unless possibly one of the B&Bs or Ocean Wave bar have broadband. It's less than 10 minutes from Louisburg the nearest small town, but not sure what's available.

Otherwise most of the cafes and hotels in Westport (about 30 mins drive) have pay hotspots or free WIFI, also 2 net cafes and several Eircom hotspots. Mocha Beans have Bizbuzz which is free for O2 registered customers.

Another option which might be cheaper would be a pay as you go 3G dongle which they could pick up in one of the phone shops in Westport.

Thanks, that's great. He was planning to bring a BT dongle, but perhaps your suggestion would be better.

If you ask nicely, Staunton's Pub in Lecanvey will let you on their wireless network.

There's also a free hotspot at Murrisk Community Centre, in the car park at the foot of The Reek.
