Query on importing car to UK

Hi, I bought a car originally in UK and brought it back to Ireland and paid VRT etc so its currently registered in Ireland. I am thinking of moving to UK for a job and was wondering would I have to pay the equivalent of VRT in UK now that Im bringing the car back over or could I just get a copy of the original plates and would that be enough since its originally registered there.

I am not sure of how it works. Forgive the silly question as Im sure the obvious answer is NO but I thought I would ask here anyway in case there was a loop hole.

    Thanks in advance
