i know this subject has been covered before but what i was wondering is:
has anyone vrt'd a car recently that they have had stored away for years especially if it had turned 30 in that time!if so was there any problems and were there any penalties to pay?

Just make sure you have a signed receipt from the previous month from the seller ;)

Seriously I know someone who went in and were told if they didn't have one, they could run out to the car to get it. ;)

There's a notice on the wall in Blarney VRT office.
It reads, if you do not have a receipt write one out.
You'll also need a relevent ferry or haulier receipt.

if the car is over 30 years old any potential "fine" will be small as its based on the potential loss of VRT. Just tell them it was already 30 when it was imported and has been under restoration since and you should avoid all penalties. A handwritten receipt will suffice and tell them you didnt import it so you have no travel receipt, I expect a freind you bought it off delivered it for you.

They wont be too interested as they are looking for loss of VRT on high value cars imported and used for years before being VRTd. A Bug or 'tina wont interst them too much (IMHO of course)

it will need to be roadworthy of course.

Yes,and based on that theory then any car over thirty years old brought in before the VRT went up to €200 should only have to pay €50;)
