I have been trying out the filters on my P7 over the last few nights, I found the yellow filter very good,
I wasent out lamping just trying the lamp filter.
I tried the red, yellow, blue and green filter.
The red filter was ok for closer range but dimmed the light, the yellow did the same job but not as dim as the red.
I tried them on the poor dogs at home, they turn away from the unfiltered light as maybe it is to bright but looked into the red and yellow light, their eyes dident show up great in the blue and they dident seem to look into the green.

By the way anyone going lamping. it is a good idea to lamp some different animals like dogs, sheep, cattle etc just so you know what they look like in the dark, some guys get a bit carried away and shoot as soon as they see eyes, forgetting that there are more than foxes or rabbits in the field.

Bit off topic Kildarejoe (apology) but your interest in lamping may benefit me (us!).

Something recently drove the sheep in the paddocks and fields around our house totally mad. Grabbed the lamp and away I went on foot in hot persuit and was joined by a neighbour who also heard the commotion. There is a lot of sheep rustling going on in West Wicklow and we expected the worst. So, there we found the ewes bunched in the corners of the field.... scanning around with the lamp (lightforce), about 150 yds off, a pair of blueish eyes looked back at us and disappeared. Never saw blue eyes before or since. You've given good advise on lamping various animals, any idea what it was I saw please?

Hey Kildarejoe, are the filters manufactured for the P7 or homemade jobs?

Blue eyes were probably a cat or pinemartin.

Yeah iv had cats eye shine blue at me under the lamp before. west wicklow could you make out a rough size under the light force at that range?? I wouldnt think a cat would disturb ewes like that but a dog certainly would. Is there lads goin around robbin sheep?

i find the green and yellow filter on the m7r or p7 great, the red takes away alot of the light at distance but is still good to 70 yards.

My doberman's eyes are a sort of blueish green when he looks into the lamp, could be a dog, although I never got a pinemartin in a lamp but they are savaging alot of hens and ducks around Laois

No wonder the sheep were huddled in a bunch!!! Only last week I shot a boxer bitch hunting the sheep.

    Thank you kildarejoe.
