Laptop Wireless problem

    Howdy,

Hope someone can help. I have an Advent Verona laptop and the wireless on it is very temperamental. What happens is that the connection can be fine for some time, and then it will disconnect and tell me that there are no connections available. Or it will be very sluggish (dial up speeds), and then disconnect, reconnect, disconnect etc etc. A lot of the time the wireless signal is very low, 1 or 2 bars.

Now the thing is that I am sitting right near the router, maybe ten feet from it. Also, my other laptop is fine. It's connection is always rock solid and never intermittent. Even my PC in another room has a perfect connection. I have tried changing wireless channels and I am running a wireless N router and both laptops are N.

The Advent laptop has been like this for a looong time. I have changed routers a few times, but if I remember right, it was fine with the original UPC router, a Netgear WGR614 I think it was. It doesn't seem to be router based as all other computers are working properly, though I did have communication problems between the other computers and other routers I tried previously.

The only thing I can imagine it would be is that there are communication problems between the wireless card on the Advent and the router, ie. they are not compatible.

Or am I missing something obvious? Anyway, I hope someone can help as I say.

    Thanks.
