anyone organised a wedding in carton house, looking for advice???

Hi All,

I am starting to plan my wedding with my fiance and we are looking at different venues at the moment. We really like the look and idea of carton house with the golf, spa and picturesque setting.

We have heard that there is no bar in the big carton suite but that they can put a temporary bar in there as they have done this on many occasions. we will be booking an appointment with thier planner to view the place properly and go through the prices etc.

My query is if anyone has been to a large wedding in the suite (modern) side of the hotel and what the bar was like. (we do not want to have half the guest out in the main bar half the night as you know, people will congragate at the bar no matter what)

any and all feedback would be greatly appreciated

I'm going to a wedding in carton this friday. there will be about170 ppl so i presume its in the large hall. never been there so not sure.

will try to remember let you know what its like. place does look amazing though

Hi, myself and herself viewed there as its close to where we are from, what put me off was our wedding was too big for the old part of the hotel so we had to be put in the modern part, for the price of the package it lost all appeal to us, i would have happily paid the price to be in the original building but felt the modern part while nice had zero charm

I think we have resigned ourselves to the fact that we will need something the size of the modern suite. My partner does want it to have the "wow" factor.

We checked out the k club very ordinary and especially for the price they expect and we would be put out in the golf club house. No thank you.

Our wedding band told us they hate playing Carton House, purely because of the bar. It seems that no matter what, people drift from the main room towards the bar, making it very difficult to create a good atmosphere. Just something to consider.

I also found weddingsonline.ie a good planning resource, if you do a search on there you'll find a lot of feedback on venues.

Its not the worst place that has this setup of a seperate bar but if they will provide one in the room for free I would go with it (make sure the other is closed though)

Just make sure they give you a brochure to register with Weddingfairsonline so you can get further discounts on other suppliers!
