DIT science courses are wildly prized as producing the graduates with the best practical science knowledge in the country. Small class sizes compared with big universities gives you more time at the bench and more lab work experience, which is in the end what employers are looking for.

As for career opportunities, any science degree is valuable because it opens the door to numerous other fields. You get a good grounding in all the sciences and then you can specify into whatever field interests you the most.

DIT is very unique in the science degrees it offerss! They are all specialised but give you good ground work that you can diversify. If you ask me this question in 12 months I'll be able to give you a much more precise answers because hopefully I'll be seeing how easy it is to get a job with a DIT degree :P

Science is always a huge area in Ireland with tons of jobs at the moment (www.sciencejobs.ie) but I'll say what everyone else says do something you enjoy! TBH I don't think I'd still be in my degree if I didn't enjoy it so don't aim for a job (remember how horrid it was studying all those subjects for the LC when you didn't enjoy them? multiply that by a million)
