Recommend a mouse

I have had a few Logitech mice, which I have heard is a big name and in turn expected good quality. But I have been through at least two of them in around four years.

I just use it for normal operations on a desktop PC, so no need for a wireless one, and finally I have big hands, so would prefer a “normal” size (I’ve seen some that would be lost in my palm)

    Thanks in advance!

Logitech are great can't fault them, I spent more on one of those rat 7 mice which is suitable for larger hands as you can enlarge it but the damn thing broke down and had to be sent back. 2nd product from that company that malfunctioned.

If you have no gaming needs I'd just go for a logitech. Even if you do you should probably just go for a logitech.

So would you say the amount of times ive had to replace a logitech is normal?

I have big hands, and I find the MX518 great. Had it for years now, but I'd buy aother if it ever did give up the ghost.

What kind of mice were they, no more than anyone else Logitech are not immune to churning out a few lines of cheapo perhiperals to pay the bills, but the quality of their mid-upper range product lines is pretty well always spot on.

    * Submit button pressed with an 3 yr old MX518 still in great shape.

Not in my experience anyway, I'm using a logitech G5 which must be 6 or more years old, same at work maybe 5 or more years old, haven't had any problems with the range as a whole so far but I guess I could just be lucky.

Hell I could care less if they do only last two years. The price of wireless mice has come crashing down. In many case you can grab a fair-sized wireless basic for $19. Even their gaming-grade mice have seen the occassional sale/reduction.

When these things do break its usually only for a want of violent clicking.

At the minute I’m using an ls1, then before that it was a larger one that was grey in colour; I can’t remember the model number.

I think when the dell one supplied with the PC broke, I paid 30ish for a new one and once that broke fairly quickly, I went down in price range, as I assumed why pay dear if it’s going to break so easily.

I see a lot of people recommending the gaming mouse; would it not be a waste for me to buy a gaming mouse just to do the basics?

I have a Razer mouse, think its a Diamondback 3G or something, I've had it 4 years I say now and its still working as good as day one, someone (not me) spilled vodka & coke in it and it still works :) . I used to go through cheap mice quite quickly as my hands sweat allot :( but this one is comfortable and still works brilliantly, it was around €60 (not cheap) in peats back then but its a quality mouse, also avoid wireless mice, unless you want to pay a heavy premium for a bluetooth one, most of them are rubbish!

My Logitech G5 failed after about two years (reckon the laser diode went) and they just sent me out a new G500. Didn't ask for the old one to be sent back, I don't think they even asked for proof of purchase, just got a new G500 in the mail a few days later.

Very impressed with their customer service. Good mouse too.

Gaming stuff is almost like the highest grade you can buy in PC circles. Gaming stuff is in most ways the cutting edge of PC technology, the stuff needs to be high performance and up to prolonged abuse.
